READ WITH CONFIDENCE PROJECT
Improving literacy is one of the core missions of the Read with Confidence project, a self-funded initiative by ALSAR in Borno state. The project targeted 225 Primary 4β6 pupils across Moduganari, Gwange 2, and Bulumkutu Public Schools, with the goal of improving literacy and numeracy among struggling pupils by building their academic confidence and providing a strong educational foundation.
The initiative provided targeted support to teachers through training, coaching, and mentorship, while also distributing essential writing materials to pupils including (exercise books, pens, and erasers) to ensure they had everything they needed to succeed.
Key achievements included:

β’ Increased pupil confidence and engagement in the classroom.
β’ Reduced learning gaps and strengthened teacher capacity.
β’ Provided foundational skills for academic progression and lifelong learning.
